Gail Williams passed peacefully from this life, July 26th, 2017 at home in The Woodlands, Texas with his wife and family. He was born Bobby Gail Williams, March 3rd, 1926 to Chester and Blanche (Gimlin) Williams in Stroud, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of three surviving children. He is preceded in death by his parents, and eldest son, Stephen Gail Williams. Gail is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Margaret, of the Woodlands, Texas and sister, Evelyn Christine Bolton of Granbury, Texas. He is also survived by sons, Mark Williams and wife, Dolores of Shenandoah, Texas; David Williams of The Woodlands, Texas; Michael Williams and wife, Shirley of Bridge City, Texas and daughter, LuAnne Holub and husband, A.J. of Montgomery, Texas. Other survivors include eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-children and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gail was raised in Eastern Oklahoma and graduated High School in Leesville, Louisiana before joining the Merchant Marines at age 17 sailing tankers providing fuel and supplies for the European War effort during the Second World War.
On September 17th, 1948, he married Margaret Lou Burke of Houston, Texas. Gail worked in industry while attending the University of Houston, graduating with a B.S. degree in 1958. He then went on to Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University and became an Ordained Elder of the Methodist Church in May of 1961.
He served for 40 years at numerous churches in the Eastern Districts of Texas as a Methodist Minister, retiring in 1991 to spend time with Margaret, grandkids and playing golf. Gail also volunteered at his local church providing Sacraments and performing weddings for loved ones until 2012.
Pastor, counselor, teacher, "Brother" Gail has touched the lives of thousands of his parishioners, friends, and neighbors throughout his life. He was loved by many, and will be missed by all.
The family invites you and others to attend a "Celebration of Life" memorial service on Thursday, August 3rd, 2017 at The Woodlands United Methodist Church, Robb Chapel, located at 2200 Lake Woodlands Dr., The Woodlands, Texas 77380. Visitation will be held in the Chapel at 1:00p.m. with Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider making a donation in his honor and memory.
