After a lengthy illness, Beverly Ann Bautsch Sontag, 70, of Beaumont, died on Friday, April 10, 2026. Known as “Boovie” to her family and friends, she was born on October 23, 1955, in Houston.

 Beverly graduated from Reagan High School and began her career with Southwestern Bell in Houston. She later moved to North Carolina after receiving a promotion with Northern Telecom. After meeting the love of her life, her “Cowboy,” Arthur “Bub” Sontag, she returned to Texas. They married on December 19, 1990.

After marrying, Beverly attended Lamar University and earned a degree in education. She went on to work as a teacher for 20 years before retiring.

Beverly and Bub enjoyed living on several acres of land, where they always had a horse, goats, and several dogs. Beverly loved the peace and quiet of country life. They also enjoyed taking their camper to local trade shows, where Beverly sold her “wares,” and Bub sold knives and handmade leather sheaths. They took many long road trips together, traveling as far as Yellowstone National Park, their favorite destination. 

After Bub died on November 30, 2018, Beverly moved to Beaumont. She made many friends in her new Sandelwood community and poured her heart into serving as the HOA president of the community. While living in Beaumont, she enjoyed spending several years as a docent at the McFaddin-Ward House Historic Museum.

Beverly was known for her beautiful needlework. She created intricate cross-stitch pieces and “over-the-top” jeweled Christmas stockings, which she personalized for family and friends. In addition to her needlework talent, Beverly was also known for her chicken and dumplings and stuffed jalapeno peppers.

Beverly is survived by her older sister Shelley (Frank) and younger brother Bob (Elisa). Her nieces, Elisa and Melanie, who were also like her daughters, and her niece Brenda and nephew James of Denver. 

Beverly was cremated and buried with her Mother and Father. She will be forever missed, but lives on in our hearts.
