Beverly Olivier Goodrum, was born on August 19, 1926, and went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2021, just two weeks before celebrating her 95 th birthday.
Beverly was a native of Houston, Texas, the youngest of five siblings. She graduated in 1943 from Reagan High School in Houston (now known as Heights High School), where she was an excellent student and especially enjoyed being a part of the Red Coats Drum and Bugle Corps. She met her husband, Forest Wayne Goodrum, in 1946 upon his return from Army service in Europe, and they were married March 7, 1947. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage before Forest's death in 2006. Both were active members of First Baptist Church of the Heights, where Beverly worked as the church secretary for several years. They were charter members of Timbergrove Baptist Church, where they served together faithfully for over 50 years. Beverly later attended Baptist Temple and most recently First Baptist Church of Tomball. She often told others that raising six children was her greatest accomplishment.
She is preceded in death by her husband Forest; her parents J. S. Olivier and Velma Rhymes Olivier; her sister Lucille Gatewood; her brothers James Olivier, Raymond Olivier, and Carey Olivier; and her son-in-law Rogelio Gonzales.
She is survived by her children: Nancy Burns and husband Mike, Alan Goodrum and wife Charlotte, Linda Stanton and husband Jim, Karen Gonzales, Glenn Goodrum and wife Heather, and Neal Goodrum and wife Cindy, 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren (with one more arriving any day), 5 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Vera Goodrum Beago, and numerous nieces and nephews. Recently, when asked what her best advice for her descendants would be, she responded, "Do what God wants you to do."
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, August 13, 2021, at First Baptist Church, 401 Oxford St., Tomball, Texas, 77375.
