Betty Ruth Ramsey

Betty Ruth Ramsey, 73, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026, surrounded by love and leaving behind a lifetime of memories with the family she devoted so much of her life to. She was born on November 13, 1952, in Hempstead, Texas, to Jasper “Jack” Newton Scroggins and Opal Irene Tillery Scroggins.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She spent much of her life caring for her family, first as a wife and stay-at-home mother to her children, and later as the beloved nanny to her grandchildren. Her granddaughters, Savonnah, Haley, Sera, and Paige, lovingly called her Nanny, and she cherished the years she spent caring for them.

Before dedicating herself to her family, Betty worked as a school bus driver. During her time as a driver, she was involved in a serious accident with an 18-wheeler while transporting children. Despite being injured herself, Betty’s actions helped protect the children in her care. Her strength and selflessness were qualities she carried throughout her life.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Ramsey, and her daughter, Michelle Ramsey.

She is survived by her son, Michael Dale Ramsey; her granddaughters, Savonnah Ramsey, Haley Ramsey, Sera Ramsey, and Paige Ramsey; her great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones.

In the final years of her life, Betty found comfort in her faith and held onto the hope of being reunited with those she loved and had missed so deeply. Though her family will miss her beyond words, there is comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and reunited with her beloved husband and daughter.

Betty will forever be remembered as Nanny and Mom, a woman whose greatest gifts were her love, devotion, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family. She gave so much of herself to the people she loved, and her love will continue through the generations she leaves behind.
