Betty Lou Johnson Holzwarth, 87, of Conroe, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on April 9, 2025.

She was born on May 22, 1937, in Satin, Texas, to the late Walter Johnson and Velma (Cunningham) Johnson. She was preceded in death by her children, Donna Gail and Kevin Holzwarth; great-grandchildren Nathaniel Dewayne, Gunner Isiah, and Adonis Nathaniel Johnson; and her beloved sisters Dorothy Bonds and Norma Lee Gaylor, along with many other cherished family members and friends.

Betty Lou is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, John C. Holzwarth; their sons, Carl and Robert Holzwarth; and her grandchildren: Donna Renee and husband Tee-Jay Johnson; Leslie Amanda and husband Robert Perry; Amanda Marie Holzwarth; Dominique Bart; Amber and husband Devin Davis; Desiree Randolph; Stephanie Randolph; and Andrew and Christopher Wright.

She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren: Isiah Treyvon Johnson; Emily Michelle, Payton Marie, Olivia Cheyenne, and Skylar Renee Perry; Maverick Wayne and Elsie Mae Hanselka; Karissa and Raelynn Mustard; Marissa Bart; Devin Davis Jr and Alannah Davis; Mia Elena Escobar; Brody Hayden Bennet; Anna and Ava Bass; Nova McKeen; and Michael, Levi, and Iris Ski Wright.

Betty Lou met the love of her life, John, at a baseball game in Tomball, Texas. They were married on August 30, 1958, and were blessed with four children. Before marriage, she worked at MD Anderson Hospital, taking a bus from her sister's house in Spring to get to work. Once her children were all in school, she began working for Conroe Independent School District.  She retired from school district with 22 years of service.

A proud graduate of Lott High School, she was crowned Homecoming Queen in 1954. Betty Lou was known for her wonderful cooking and baking—especially her famous chocolate birthday cakes, a favorite among her family. She also enjoyed canning vegetables from the garden each spring.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, taking family vacations, and hosting her great-nieces and nephews during the summer.

Though she never learned to swim well (much to her mother's warning), she still loved going to the lake and water skiing. Betty Lou had a bright spark for life and a deep love for God that she joyfully shared with others. She was a longtime and faithful member of the Church of Christ in Conroe, where she took her children and taught Sunday school classes for many years.

Her legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on April 15th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 W Main, Tomball, TX 77375.

A graveside service will take place on April 16th at 12:30 PM at Earthman's Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, TX 77060, followed by a reception in Earthman's Resthaven reception room.
