Betty (BJ) French Hartenstine was born September 21, 1942 in Decatur, Alabama. She went home to be with her Lord on April 4, 2021. She was 78 Years old.

As a loyal member of Champion Forest Baptist Church she worked in several areas as a volunteer. She was a member of Early Chapel Service, Faithful Followers Life Group and Biblical Literacy class. She loved the Lord and loved serving Him thru many ministries throughout her life. Those who knew her admired her quick smile and pleasant personality. She had a servant's heart and was very caring and compassionate.

She especially enjoyed doing things with her great grandchildren, such as making cookies, shopping, going to movies, doing artwork and having lunch and sleepovers with all of her great grandchildren. She looked so forward to visits with all of her family and friends.

In May of 1979 Betty earned her Real Estate Brokers license. She practiced Real Estate Sales in her own company with 14 agents, as well as managing some major Real Estate Firms in the Houston area. She also taught Real Estate Marketing for several years. She enjoyed her Real Estate career for over 20 years.

Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her mother, Sue Ellen French, her father, Jerry Henry French, brothers Jerry Douglas French and Arnold Eugene French and her oldest daughter Annita James.

She is survived by her husband, Richard (Dick) Hartenstine, his son David and wife Mary Beth of Ferndale, Washington, his son Daniel of Charlotte, North Carolina, daughter Tanya Barnes and 2 sons; Brian Jinkins and Steven Jinkins. She was blessed with nine grandchildren; Aja Pinder, Amber Pinder, Bo Pinder, Eric Barnes, Tyler Barnes, Jacob Barnes, Leanne Martinez, Antone Jinkins, and Eric Jinkins.

Her love and devotion also included her great grandchildren; Celise Harp, Drake Harp, Cara Shirley, Grace Shirley, Ella Shirley, Anthony Bynum, Savannah Bynum, Madison Blount, Eli Inman and Kimberlyn Inman.

A loving niece, Eddie Giles, her husband Dale Giles and her son, Michael Kravits always held a very special place in Betty's heart.
