Betty Earl Baker, age 89, passed away peacefully November 23, 2020. She was born May 21, 1931 in Houston, Texas to William Eugene Pitts and Margaret Ruth Aiken Pitts. She grew up in the Heights and was the youngest of 5 children, Lillian, John Winston, Helen, and Adrian. She married her love, Truman Baker, in September of 1950 who preceded her in death in 1999.
Betty loved people, especially her children. She enjoyed sewing, baking and decorating cakes, garage sales, and going out to eat, especially for fried shrimp and cheesecake. Betty was an amazing wife, mother, and friend. Her life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32 — "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."
For many years, Betty worked in the oil and gas industry as an executive secretary and retired at age 65.
Betty is survived by her daughter Linda and son-in-law Alistair Strachan, son Brian Baker and daughter-in-law Ginny, daughter Betsy and son-in-law Bruce Gratland, daughter Lezle Jacobs, and son Robert Baker; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her beloved parents, siblings, and husband. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
