Betty Jean Campbell, age 94 of Houston, Texas, peacefully went to her heavenly home on November 11, 2024, at 3:07 am. She was born on November 22, 1929, to William and Isabella Buchan, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Born and raised in Tulsa Oklahoma, Betty graduated from Central High School in 1948 and later received a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from The University of Tulsa in 1953. She was a proud member of Chi Omega Sorority and served as Secretary and Treasurer. She also was Junior Class Treasurer and member of the Lantern Scholastic Organization, Future Teachers of America, Sigma Alpha Sigma business fraternity, Assistant Business Manager of the Collegian, Assistant editor and Senior Class editor of the Kendallabrum yearbook, Mortar Board, TU Business Women's Club and served as Secretary, Phi Delta Epsilon journalism fraternity, The Faculty Women's Club, and The American Association of University Women. She was listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.
She married her husband Gordon on August 22, 1953, who she met while at the University of Tulsa. They raised two Children and had a loving marriage of 58 years until his passing.
Betty had several lifelong passions. Cooking and entertaining were near the top of her list. She opened and successfully operated a catering business for over 35 years. She believed in service and was always active in her church and regularly gave back to local charities and educational organizations. She was a 70-year alum with Chi Omega, and active in her local P.E.O. chapter. All of these, however, were eclipsed by her greatest passion - family and friends. A proud and loving wife and mother that led by example, grace, and love. She maintained close and active friendships from every phase of her life and cherished the time, travel, and relationship she shared with each of them.
Those left to cherish her memory are sons Robert Campbell and Stuart Campbell & Wife Lisa, Grandchildren Lauren Campbell and Caelin Campbell & wife Kaleigh, Great Granddaughter Oaklynn, and Daughter in Law Anett Dermanovic.
She is preceded in death by Husband Gordon Campbell and Grandson Robert Shane Campbell; Parents William and Isabella Buchan; Brother Dr. William Buchan & wife Kay; and sisters Evelyn Smith & husband Glen and Agnes Duckert and Husband Edwin.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on November 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.at Klein Funeral Home – Champions, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Klein, Texas. A reception will follow at the home of Don and Gina Smith.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Chi Omega Foundation – (note – select annual Fund) or P.E.O International in honor of Betty Jean (Buchan) Campbell
