Bettie Marie Wright was born in Lawrenceville, Illinois on June 20, 1931 and passed into the presence of our Lord on January 10, 2023.

She is preceded in death by her parents Earnest William and Bertha Marie Byrley, her husband Kenneth Paul Wright, her son William Kenneth Wright, and her siblings Walter and Wilma Rose Byrley.

Bettie is survived by her son and wife Randy and Cheryl Wright and her daughter and husband Barbara and Johnny Pope.

Her grandchildren Melissa Dudley, Dan Wright, Claire Williams, Stephen Wright, Heather Matthews, Juliana Friedman, Jonathan Pope, Sean Pope, and numerous great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces also survive her.

Bettie married Kenneth Paul Wright and together they reared their three children, Kenny, Randy and Barbara in Northwest Indiana. Bettie was an attentive mother, often seen outside playing ball with Kenny and Randy while Paul worked in the steel mills. Bettie worked hard all her life. As a teen, she was a waitress who meticulously went above and beyond requirements, having the indelible mark of excellence, which followed her when later becoming a successful businesswoman. She and her husband owned and operated a country grocery store in Roselawn, Indiana. After receiving Christ as their Savior, Bettie and Paul moved to Hammond, Indiana to better serve their Lord and also to rear their children in a sound Bible-believing church. It was there that Bettie became one of the church's finest Sunday School teachers and worked with the Pioneer teen girls for twenty plus years. During this time Bettie honed her skills as a district manager for the fabrics department in Zayre stores in Indiana, Illinois and Michigan.

In 1984 Bettie and Paul moved to Texas where she managed the fabrics department in Walmart. Upon retirement they moved to Kissee Mills, Missouri where they enjoyed fishing, traveling and providing wonderful memories for their kids and grandkids at Silver Dollar City and Branson, Missouri. While in Missouri, Bettie continued to serve the Lord in their local Christian school and AWANA children's program at their church.

As the senior years progressed, Bettie and Paul saw the need to be near their family and moved back to Texas. Bettie continued to serve the Lord in their church through the AWANA Club for children. Bettie enjoyed crocheting, camping and reading voraciously. She was a good mother and ideal grandmother. The Bible says that it is required of stewards that they be found faithful (I Corinthians 4:2). Once Bettie gave her life to Jesus, she knew it was no longer her own. She was faithful to Christ, her husband and her children. It may be said of her what was inscribed in Proverbs 31:10: "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies."

And the result of the fulfillment of that biblical truth, it may also be said of her what is found in Proverbs 31:28: "Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her."
