Bessie Rae Golden, age 99, went home to be with the Lord on May 26, 2023.  She was born on November 13, 1923 near Trinity, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Les Golden and by her six brothers and sisters.  She was the oldest of 7 children of Mable and Dean Pollard.  She is survived by her sons, Larry and Danny Golden, 4 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

She was a long time member of what was then Jersey Village Baptist Church and knew the Lord as her savior.  Bess began her life as a country girl on a ranch in rural Trinity County, Texas.  She walked a mile & ½ to and from school and picked cotton to help with the family expenses.  It was her dream to be a beautician and operate a hair salon.  She graduated from Trinity High School, and a month after she turned 18, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.  She left home for Houston and found a job at Dixon Gun Plant making gun parts for the war effort.  She met Les and they were married on Christmas Eve, 1946.  The marriage lasted 74 years until the passing of Les.  After the war, Bess went to beauty college, opened her own business, and ran a very successful beauty salon for over 55 years.  She worked long hours but always had time for Les and her two sons.  She was always able to balance work with preparing meals and doing the housework.  She was kind and generous and loved by all.  She was a wonderful wife and mother and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Klein Funeral Home, 9719 Wortham Blvd, Houston, TX  77065.  Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM following visitation.  Interment to follow in Brookside Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers are Justin Garner, Dean Inthavong, So Sen, Justin Golden, Chris Ellis, Shane Decker, Jace Garner, and honorary pallbearer Beau Golden.
