Bertha "Eddy" Martin, a devoted daughter, beloved aunt, and steadfast woman of faith, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength. Born on December 26, 1923, in Cuero, Texas, Eddy was the fifth of six children born to Oliver and Amelia Adcock. Her early years in Cuero shaped her warm spirit and strong family values, which remained central throughout her life.

Eddy moved to Houston during her high school years and graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1941. Soon after, she began what would become a remarkable 40-year career with Western Union. Starting out on roller skates delivering telegrams, she worked diligently and rose through the ranks—a testament to her work ethic, determination, and resilience.

A devout Christian, Eddy grew up in the Methodist Church and remained faithful throughout her life. Her belief in service and compassion guided her daily actions.

On August 21, 1948, she married the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Martin. Their marriage was a long and joyful one, lasting until his passing in 2003. Though Eddy and Dick did not have children, she poured her heart into her family. Her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and even great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews were the lights of her life. She cherished each of them deeply.

Eddy also had a lifelong love of animals and often shared fond memories of her boxer and her cat, companions who brought her tremendous joy.

A devoted daughter, she cared for her parents faithfully until their passing. Eddy is preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Amelia Adcock; her beloved husband, Dick; and her siblings, Milton, Mildred, Arlon, Leroy, and Mazee.

Bertha "Eddy" Martin will be remembered for her kindness, faith, dedication, and the gentle love she showed to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her loved ones and rests now in eternal peace.
