Bernice Blondell (Stahlecker) Spitzenberger was born in Butte, Nebraska on April 22, 1942, and passed away in The Woodlands, Texas on June 21, 2026.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Spitzenberger; her parents, Walter and Vera Stahlecker; and seven siblings.
Bernice is survived by her children, Anthony Spitzenberger with wife Rhonda, and Melissa Forbes; grandchildren, Joseph Spitzenberger, Nicole Spitzenberger, Daniel Spitzenberger, Charles Forbes, Noah Forbes, and Peyton Forbes; siblings, Marjorie Zauner, and Earl Stahlecker (Joyce); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Anyone who knew Bernice knew of her love for her home state of Nebraska, especially the Nebraska Cornhuskers. She always enjoyed going back to alumni events in her hometown of Naper and visiting with classmates and family members.
She attended Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska, and received two degrees from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
Bernice was an educator for over 30 years and taught everything from preschool to college level classes. She treasured her time as a teacher and formed lasting relationships with many of her former students.
She will be missed by her family, colleagues, former students and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Friday June 26, 2026 at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Dr., Spring, TX 77379.
Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Abiding Word Lutheran Church, 17123 Red Oak Dr., Houston, TX 77090.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bernice's memory to the Strategic Ministry Fund at Abiding Word Lutheran Church.
