Obituary

Bernard "Butch" Hotaling, 74, of Pinehurst, TX, passed away on August 19, 2024. He was born on November 11, 1949 to Bernard Olin Hotaling and Gertrude Elleanor Stay in Albany, New York.

Butch Hotaling, a beloved husband, father, and veteran, left behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love. Born in Albany, New York, Butch's life journey took him across the country, leaving lasting impressions in each place he called home.

After bravely serving his country in the Vietnam War as a member of the US Army, Butch returned to civilian life with a strong sense of duty and purpose. He returned to Florida, where fate led him to meet the love of his life, Lori, while working at the VFW. Their connection was instant and deep, and in 1974, they were married, embarking on a beautiful journey together that would span 50 years. This past February, they celebrated their golden anniversary, a testament to their enduring love and commitment.

Butch's career in construction was more than just a job; it was his passion. He spent his entire working life building homes, putting his heart into every project. His work was a source of pride, and he was known for his exceptional craftsmanship and integrity.

Butch and Lori eventually settled in Texas, where they continued to build their life together. His kindness, humor, and unwavering support for his family and friends will be deeply missed. Butch' s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Lorraine Hotaling, son Rick Barker and wife Carla Barker, daughter Jenifer Books and husband Kevin Books, son B.J. Hotaling and wife Kim Hotaling, His grandchildren Kristen Wright, Brandon Books, Makinze Hotaling, Jacob Barker, Blake Hotaling, and Brett Hotaling. His sister Dolores VanEpps and husband Walt VanEpps, sister Ginger Martin and husband Dave Martin, sister Winnie Crews and husband Dale Crews and numerous nieces, nephews as well as a host of family friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bernard Olin Hotaling and Gertrude Elleanor Stay.

A memorial Service to be held at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball, TX at 10 am. Inurnment to follow at Houston National Cemetery at 12:30 pm.

Please keep in mind if you will be attending the inurnment at Houston National Cemetery to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled time and get in Lane 1. If you arrive earlier than mentioned you run the risk of getting caught in another person's service. Please pull off to the side and wait until 12:15 pm before getting in Lane 1.
