Obituary

Bart Anthony Wittmer, 51, devoted husband and father, passed away at home on Christmas Eve surrounded by his loving family.

Bart was born on July 13, 1965 in Evansville, IN to Gary and Judy (Zeller) Wittmer. He graduated from Tecumseh High School and Purdue University, and went on to work for Mobil Oil. He met his wife, Maureen A. (Dyer) Wittmer, while working for Mobil Oil in Valley Forge, PA, and they married on June 6, 1992 in Lancaster, PA. He spent his career with Mobil Oil, now ExxonMobil, working as Terminal Manager in St. Louis, MO, Portland, ME, East Providence, RI, and Vernon, CA, before relocating to work at ExxonMobil headquarters in Houston, TX. His career there spanned nearly 30 years. Away from work, Bart most enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching his children's sporting activities, playing football, baseball and basketball with his children, and following Patriots football and Indiana basketball. He was also very well known for his love of good food. Most notably, Bart had a strong faith and trust in God.

Bart will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Maureen, of The Woodlands, TX; daughters, Meghan M. and Mary E. Wittmer, of The Woodlands; son, John J. Wittmer, of The Woodlands; father, Gary G. Wittmer, of Elberfeld, IN; brother, Brad Wittmer, and his wife, Jennifer, of Elberfeld, IN; brother-in-laws: Daniel P. Dyer and his wife, Bettina, of Moorestown, NJ, Joseph F. Dyer and his wife, Frances, of Medford, NJ, Richard J. Dyer and his wife, Wendy, of Doylestown, PA, and Matthew J. Dyer of Lancaster, PA; and sister-in-laws: Anne-Marie Dyer of Hummelstown, PA, and Carolyn Wittmer of Madisonville, KY. He is also survived by nephews and nieces: Beau and Wesley Wittmer of Elberfeld, IN; Abigail and Daniel Wittmer of Madisonville, KY; Daniel and Ashley Dyer of Moorestown, NJ; and Ryan and Derek Dyer of Doylestown, PA.

Bart was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen A. Wittmer, mother, Judy (Zeller) Wittmer, and brother, Bret A. Wittmer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 30, 2016, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 2601 Spring Stuebner Road, Spring, TX with Reverend Christian Bui as Celebrant. A viewing will be held from 5-8 PM on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at the Klein Funeral Home – Champions, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Klein, Texas 77379 with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 PM. Another viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 AM on Friday at the Church. Bart will be buried beside his daughter, Katie, in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland, ME, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Bart's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or Frassati Catholic High School (www.frassaticatholic.org).
