Barbara Ann Wiggins was born on November 2, 1936, in Houston, Texas, to George Edward and Grace Wiggins. The second of four children, Barbara grew up in a loving home in The Houston Heights.

Growing up in a family with four children meant fun, games, and travel. For family vacations, her parents rented a cabin in Wimberly, Texas, on the Blanco River where Barbara and her siblings spent many happy hours swimming and fishing for perch. Barbara's dad enjoyed playing sports such as football, softball and basketball, with his kids on the weekends. This fueled a great love for sports and activity in Barbara's heart. Later she went on to play softball, volleyball and tennis in high school, and she also played the saxophone in the band. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Elementary, Hamilton Junior High and Reagan High School in The Heights. Barbara went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree (1957) at Texas State College for Women, and then a Masters of Education (1962) at Sam Houston State Teachers College. After graduation, she became a tennis coach and physical education teacher at a local junior high school. Eventually, Barbara moved to Tucson, Arizona to be close to her older sister Gracie. After years of teaching in Tucson, she moved to Yuma, Arizona where she managed a health clinic for many years. Travel was a highlight in Barbara's life. She enjoyed trips to San Diego with friends and family where she owned a condo on Mission Beach. Barbara loved to travel with a tour group of Arizona friends and family. Some of her favorite trips included: a Danube River Cruise, a Bolga River Cruise in Russia which included a train trip to Paris, and a wonderful Alaskan cruise. But of course, her favorite trip was to Texas to be with her family! Needless to say, Barbara loved to socialize and spend plenty of quality time with her friends and family.

After her older sister, Gracie, passed away in January 2023, Barbara moved to Texas to live with her sister, Joyce. Later that year she moved to Parsons House Assisted Living where she received wonderful loving care from all of their staff. Most recently, she moved to Hands to Lend Assisted Living under hospice care. Here, she received even more extensive attention from their loving staff. They were truly a "Godsend"!

During the last three years of her life, Barbara grew steadily in her faith in God, despite mounting health problems. She drew her strength and confidence from God and knew that she would soon be in Heaven with her Lord and Savior. Barbara was an inspiration to those around her who witnessed her strong faith in Jesus Christ and her assurance of a soon approaching eternal life. She is now free indeed!

On June 12, 2026, at the age of 89, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, called Barbara home to join her father, mother and her sister, Gracie. Surviving family members include her sister, Joyce Wiggins White, her brother, George Edward Wiggins Jr., and his wife, Randle Wiggins, cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
