It is with profound sadness and loss that our dear mother, Barbara Frances Valodine Mosienko, passed away at 12:30pm on October 23, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 87. Barbara was born on February 8, 1935 to Shelby and Frances Valodine in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Barbara was a wonderful mother that loved her family dearly and moved mountains to support them in any way she could. In essence, she would give you the shirt off her back. Everyone had a seat at her table and she made everyone feel welcome. Barbara's home was the one where everyone would congregate.
Barbara enjoyed the arts, took fencing in high school, modeled for Junior House Clothing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and she loved to read, travel, cook and spend time with family. Barbara was a gifted painter, and one of her paintings is in fact, the background for this webpage.
She was a passionate gardener with the greenest of thumbs. She loved flowers, especially hibiscus, roses, lilacs and hydrangeas. There wasn't a weed that stood a chance in her soil.
She loved to bake and made incredible Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners to celebrate the holidays. Nothing compared to Barbara's cooking.
One of her favorite places to travel to was Bayview, Michigan. Her in-laws owned a summer cottage there where we were all fortunate to spend our summers. She would always say "This place is Heaven on earth".
Barbara is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Dr. Peter Mosienko; her parents, Shelby and Frances Valodine; and her brother, Shelby Michael Valodine.
She is survived by her children, Patrick Davis, Michelle Kettler and husband Ronald, Mignonne Mosienko-Buchanan, and Andrea Mosienko and husband Johnny; granddaughters, Brogan Buchanan and Danica Valodine Dorsett; her brother, Piere Andre Valodine and wife Sandy; nephews, Jeffery Valodine and Jean Paul Valodine; and nieces, Renee Bielawa and Nicole Burant.
Services for Barbara will be held late summer of 2023 at the Bay View Memorial Gardens in Bay View Michigan. Please see www.kleinfh.com for updated information.
In lieu of flowers or the planting of a tree, you are invited to make a gift in Barbara's name to Bay View Association. https://www.bayviewassociation.org/give-a-gift/
