Obituary

Barbara Jean Lehmann Hoffman of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully at home by her husband's side on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.  She was born on July 10, 1945 in Hillsboro, Texas to the late John W. Lehmann and Laura (Hodde) Lehmann of Whitney, Texas.

Barbara was a graduate of Whitney High School in Whitney, Texas where she was active in Journalism and sports. After graduating from high school, Barbara spent two years in Dallas, Texas where she worked for Southwestern Insurance. Thereafter, she relocated to Houston, Texas where she worked as a computer operator and programmer for Houston Shell and Concrete until 1979.  While in Houston, Barbara became a member of Memorial Lutheran Church where she met her future husband Fredrick Charles Hoffman in the singles organization. Barbara and Fred married on October 27, 1973 at Memorial and remained married until her death, just shy of 50 years.

Barbara was a loving wife to, and is survived by, her husband Fred. She was also a caring and supportive mother to her daughters Allyson Johnson (son-in-law Josh) of Dallas, Texas and Kimberly Dobbins of Dallas, Texas. She was a very proud "Granny" to her three grandchildren: Graham and Reid Johnson and Cooper Dobbins.  She is also survived by her brother John William Lehmann of Germany, nephews William Clay Smith of New Braunfels, Texas and Lance Lehmann of Whitney, Texas, Stephan Lehmann of Boston, Massachusetts and Daniella Dubler of Germany.  Barbara's happiest moments were times spent with her husband, children, grandchildren and friends and she will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation services will be held at Memorial Lutheran Church (5800 Westheimer Houston, Texas) from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on July 8, 2023.  A memorial service will immediately follow there at 11:00 a.m.   Barbara will be buried at 2:00 p.m. on July 8, 2023 at Salem Lutheran Cemetery (23555 ½ Lutheran Cemetery Road, Tomball, Texas).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to be made in Barbara's memory to the American lung Association
