Avalyn Mary Cook Naugle of The Woodlands, Texas passed away February 24, 2021. She was born on May 8, 1932 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Claude Lee Roy and Mary Ellen Baldwin Cook and is survived by Robert E. Naugle, her husband of 67 years, to whom she was everything.
She and her husband spent time living in Livingston, New Jersey; Moraga, California; Houston, Texas; Denver, Colorado; Coral Gables, Florida; Aruba; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Leatherhead, England and finally The Woodlands, Texas.
Avalyn lived a full life loved by friends and family. She enjoyed cooking, playing tennis, skiing and spending time with her friends. At whatever age, she was always interested in the current fashion trends and what was "new" in the world. She was an avid reader, a devourer of the nightly news and keen to keep abreast of current national politics. If there was an opportunity for a good chat, she was always up for it.
She was a guiding light to her three children David, Kimberly, and Lisa and doted on her grandchildren. Her attendance at their special events and all of their graduations around the country was of utmost importance to her. Avalyn had a quick wit, was a beacon of fun, an inspiration of hope, and loved family and friends. It was hard to leave her home without being fed. She loved to serve with her PEO group and spent many years with her husband serving on the Missions Committee at The Woodlands United Methodist Church.
Avalyn has now joined her daughter Kimberly and older brother Claude in our Lord's kingdom. She is survived by her devoted, loving husband, Bob Naugle; sister-in-law Helen Cook; brothers James (wife Judy) Cook and Robert (wife Carol) Cook; sister Linda (husband William) Volkmann; son David (wife Carol Ann) Naugle; daughter Lisa (husband Jim) Short; grandchildren Nicholas Naugle, Andrea Naugle, Megan (husband Troy) Hanson; and nine nieces and five nephews. We all mourn her passing but rejoice in a full life well lived.
