Athala Jeanette Jones, age 101, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She passed away peacefully on July 10th, 2026.
She was born February 15th, 1925 to Alex and Hilda Weiser in Cypress, Texas. She was the only child and grew up in the country that was Cypress at the time. The Weiser family was one of the early families to Cypress from Germany. Athala's grandparents resided in Cypress as well. She graduated from Cy-Fair High School in 1943.
She married Dickie Jones, a well-known musician in Houston, and had one son.
Being from the rural country there was not a lot of businesses. Cypress was a community of farmers, dairy, and cattle ranches. Everyone owned a lot of land.
Athala decided to learn to be a beautician and opened the first beauty shop in Cypress. She had many friends and met new ones through the shop. She sadly outlived them all. She was a long-time member of Christ United Church and was active in the Women's Guild there. She will be missed by all who knew and loved here.
Thanks to all who cared for her through her last years: Shelly, Carmen, Norma, Rosie, Francis, Rosa, Andrea, and Carol. Without you all she would not have lived to be 101.
Athala is survived by her son Curtis, daughter-in-law Cindy, granddaughter Tiffany Mikolawjewski & husband Ed, great grandsons Cade Mikolajewski & James Hooten, like a daughter, Linda.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Children's in loving memory of Athala Jeanette Jones.
