Obituary

Arthur Louis Mendizabal was born in Houston, Texas on December 23rd. 1938.  His parents were John Paul and Josephine Avendano Mendizabal.  He had three sisters and one brother.  On January 25th, 1961 he married Lynda Rhodes.  Over the next 7 years they had four sons:  Anthony, Bryan, Craig, & Douglas.

He is survived by wife Lynda, sons Anthony, Bryan, Craig, and Douglas, 11 grandchildren: Stephen, Brittany, Christopher, Taylor, Trevor, Cristina, Karina & Sophia Farinholt, Ryan, Zachary, and Madison. Daughters-in-law:  Jocelyn, Rose, Peggy and special friend Jennica.  Sisters-in-law: Stephanie Clay, Terry Rhodes.  Brothers-in-law: Ronald H. Rhodes II, Craig Clay.  He is also survived by numerous beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, and special friends Michael & Louise Montalbano.

From 1960 to 1969 he was a Plasterer with Local #79.  In June 1969, he started his employment with Houston Independent School District, where he reached the position of Supervisor of Maintenance until his retirement in 2002.

Arthur and Lynda lived in Spring Branch until 1980, when they became early residents of Copperfield.  After Lynda's retirement in 2005, they moved to Lake Somerville, Tx.

Arthur had many accomplishments through his 79 years of life.  He was President of Spring Branch National Little League in 1974. He was a coach to many and met several long time friends there. He served as Vice President of Harris County MUD #162 from 1981 until 2003 and Burleson County MUD #1 from 2003 until present. Water management was near and dear to his heart.

He was a member of the Birch Creek VFD from 2002 until 2015. Arthur was also a member of the Spring Branch Bear Backers and the Cy-Fair Bobcat Booster Club.

He became ill in March of this year and passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping, He was privileged to enjoy these with his sons and their families. He loved his family and was so proud of all of his grandchildren.  He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
