Arnold Alexander Parish, 86 years, 10 months, 13 days, passed away at his home in Pinehurst, Texas on October 15, 2022 in his wife`s arms. He was born on December 02, 1935 in Teague, Texas to parents Jimmie Alexander and Effie Lorene Parish.

Along with numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Church

Active & faithful member of Magnolia First Baptist Church of Magnolia, Texas over 26 years. The last 2 ½ + years he has been battling Prostate Cancer. Due to the cancer, a fall, in and out of the hospital several times and the restrictions imposed by COVID-19, he and his wife, Carolyn, were home bound for those 2 ½ years. They missed attending church and the fellow ship of their Christian friends. They faithful watched the services viva satellite and stayed connected to their Bible Study Class. Their Bible Study Class friends and leaders of the church have been there to serve all through their time of need. Saying Prayers, sending cards, flowers, visiting at the hospital, bringing food, helping with arrands, or taking him to his doctor`s appointments and physical therapy.

The Parish family cannot express or repay Carolyn for all the care and sacrifice she made. Special thanks to Carolyn`s Family and Friends. To all that contributed, you are the hands and feet of Jesus Christ.

Activities

Joined The Lions club of Magnolia, Texas to be of service to the community along with his wife, Carolyn.

Served on the Pinehurst Decker Prairie Water Board.

Hunting – After high school graduation and having access to the family land in Leon County he could afford the pleasure of hunting every year. Later he bought the l00 acres when his oldest brother passed in 1994. The deer hunting lodging that served the men well for hunting, over time, changes were made to becoming a Country Home retreat after he and his wife, Carolyn married. He and his wife, Carolyn enjoyed inviting family, relatives, and friends for visits and for special occasions till he sold it in January, 2020. In the early 60`s he was a mentor to his son`s friends, & his next-door neighbor`s boys by introducing them to deer hunting, attending baseball and basketball games and fishing. When Arnold attended Cochran Street Baptist Church of Houston, he took a young youth on hunting weekends. The youth never forgot those hunting experiences. We did not know then, but the youth would later become a beloved Gospel Music evangelist and always had high respect for Arnold.

Played Basketball for Cochran Street Baptist Church, and softball sponsored by the Houston Chronicle in his 20`s. Arnold was also good at fishing, rolling skating and holding his own at dancing. Especially the two-step. In addition to his activities Arnold liked listening to country and Gospel music by country artists, especially of the 50`s and 60`s. He has a large collection of records he had transferred to tapes just for traveling in his truck. Arnold and Carolyn also loved to travel and were looking forward to having more time for traveling after the sale of their land in the country.

Sports – An avid sports fan of the Astros, Houston Rocket`s and Baylor`s basketball and women`s baseball. Enjoyed family and friend`s game night of cards or dominos.

Education – Before his parents moved to Houston, he attended Centerville School District. Graduated from Jefferson Davis High School, Houston, Texas in 1954.

Honors – Baylor Alumni by choice, Baylor University, Waco, Texas.

Employment

First job as a kid in Centerville, Texas was shining shoes and he was color blind. He still has his shoe shining box.

In high school he delivered prescriptions for Lindale Pharmacy, Houston, Texas. The Pharmacist also wanted Arnold to become a pharmacist. Life sure could have been different.

After graduation a neighbor encouraged him to apply at Houston Sash and Door of Houston for employment and the rest in history. After a few detours, all with home building materials, he was last employed by Bison Building Materials, Houston, Texas. He was one of Bison`s top selling salesman. He made the million dollar a month sells more than one time before he retired at the age of 75.
