Arleen Manley Lawrence passed away September 3, 2020, at the age of 95 years in Houston, TX.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York August 27, 1925 to Arthur William Manley and Ruth Ernestine Miller Manley. The eldest of two children, Arleen and her brother, Richard (Dick) grew up in Brooklyn.

She was a June 1945 graduate of Averett College in Danville, VA.

During a trip into the city of New York, with a girlfriend of hers, Arleen met the love of her life, Frank Ames Lawrence III, of Gladewater, TX. He was attending Rice Institute and had been sent to midshipman school in New York during World War II.  After a whirlwind period of a six short weeks, they eloped to Maryland and were married on August 28, 1945 in Towson, MD. They enjoyed 67 years together before his death in 2013 in Denver, Colorado.

After Frank's service in the Navy and graduation from Rice Institute in 1947, Frank and Arleen moved several times around Louisiana and Texas, then to Thailand, Indonesia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and finally Colorado, where he retired from Sun Oil Company.

Arleen was an avid golfer, volunteer in her church, and 30 year volunteer to the Denver Public Library.

Her husband, parents and brother precede Arleen in death.

Left to mourn her absence is her son, Frank Ames Lawrence IV and wife Sandra Watson Lawrence of Cypress; daughter, Susan Jane Robinson and husband Joseph Robinson of Germantown, Tennessee. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: William (Wade) A. Lawrence and wife Valarie of Marietta, GA; Jason K. Lawrence and wife Sandra of Cypress, TX; Kelli L. Schmidt and husband Bryan of Waller, TX; Brian Bostick and wife Jaime of Germantown, TN; Amy B. Sobalvarro and husband Armando of Collierville, TN. Mrs. Lawrence also leaves ten great grandchildren; Shelby Lawrence, Cooper Lawrence, Jacob Lawrence, Hailey Lawrence, LeeAnn Schmidt, Wilson Schmidt, Amanda Bostick, Carter Bostick, Owen Sobalvarro and Lilly Sobalvarro.

Also surviving are a nephew and four nieces: Richard Manley and wife Jasmine of California; Donna Dickey and husband Robert of Williamsburg, VA; Holly Capra and husband Larry of California; Donna Downing and husband Tim of Indiana; Debbie Hurley and husband Ray of Texas.
