Anna Lorene (Teague) McAlpine, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday June 9, 2026, at the age of 85.
Born on February 23, 1941, in Premont, Texas, Anna was the daughter of Hazel and R.T. Teague. Anna graduated from Victoria High School in 1959 where she was a cheerleader, and on September 5 of that same year, married the love of her life, John McAlpine. Together they shared 62 years of marriage and built a strong, loving family.
Anna worked as a physical education teacher at Stanly Elementary and later as a driver's education instructor. While she enjoyed these jobs, taking care of her family was her priority.
A gifted artist and seamstress, Anna loved drawing, painting, and sewing. She lovingly created dance recital costumes, matching Easter outfits for her three daughters, prom dresses, and countless other handmade treasures. Her creativity and attention to detail were evident in everything she made.
Anna enjoyed playing dominoes, bingo, and trying her luck at the casinos. She was thrilled to hit a few jackpots over the years. She was also an avid sports fan who faithfully cheered for the Texas A&M Aggies, the Houston Texans and, in recent years, the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team. She also enjoyed watching golf tournaments, especially the Masters.
She lived her faith by being generous and welcoming her family and friends into her home, always sharing her delicious meals. Her shrimp dip and queso were favorites among those who knew her, and no Thanksgiving felt complete without her cornbread dressing and pecan pie. The gatherings she hosted created memories that her family and friends will always cherish.
Anna is survived by her daughters, Debora (Richard) Kunkel, Michelle (Brad) Bruegging, and Lisa (Randall) Thompson; her grandchildren, Zachary (Hannah) Kunkel, Claire Kunkel, Kyle Bruegging, Amy (Brendan) Kearney, Foster Thompson, and Noah (Michelle) Thompson; great-grandchildren, Ellis and Parks Kunkel and Sophia Thompson; sister-in-law, Patricia King; nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, John McAlpine, her parents, Hazel and R.T. Teague, her sister, Nelda Teague Placker and her brothers, Gary Teague and Grady Teague.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Anna's life will be held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church 11507 Huffmeister Rd., Houston, TX 77065. on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 2:00 pm. The Holy Rosary will be prayed beginning at 1:30 pm. She will be laid to rest at 10:45 am Friday, June 26, 2026, at Resurrection Cemetery 1009 E. Mockingbird Lane in Victoria, Texas. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate her remarkable life.
Anna's legacy lives on in the traditions she created the lives she touched, and the family she loved so deeply. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
