Anita Sutphin, 73, died at her home in Champions Mirage Houston Texas on January 23, 2021 of natural causes. Born in the Philippines, educated by the Catholic Nuns, she graduated college with a BS in Medical Technology at age 19. She immediately accepted an Internship at St Michael Catholic Hospital in Newark NJ in the health care of field hematology.

Upon her arrival in Newark, she started a new photo album with the following emblazoned on the first page: "THIS ALBUM IS DEDICATED TO THE PROPOSITION . . .THAT LIFE IS WHAT WE MAKE IT."  She carried this philosophy in living her life to the fullest both professionally and personally.

In a class of 26, Anita graduated Valedictorian from the Newark internship.  She continued her health care education and professional practice in London, England; North Bay Canada; Toronto Canada, Calgary Canada, Riyadh Saudi Arabia, and finally Houston, Texas.

The years of 1976-1996 found Anita living and working in Calgary Alberta Canada. She was wife to Terry Nichols and a loving devoted mother to daughters, Tracey and Lindsay.  Her zest for life and adventurous spirit was ever present as she took up Scuba Diving, ran the Honolulu Marathon, tried sky diving, and received her aviation license with a successful solo flight.

Anita would continue her world adventures in 1997 by accepting a job in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. In 1999, she came to work at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston TX.

In May 2000, Anita would meet and marry her second husband, Ted Sutphin. Their 20 years together bought much happiness and contentment to both.

She truly enjoyed life to the fullest and embraced all the things she held dear. Perhaps, her greatest passion was making friends.  Always an extrovert, this came easy.  She was always generous with her time and gifts to all she held dear. She loved fashion and jewelry. Her wardrobe included bright colors, bold designs and different styles. But her greatest joy came from sharing time with family and her many friends.  Friends from "Red Hat Society", the Klein Jazzercise Family and her newfound Facebook friends from around the world who followed her as she posted her daily Jazzercize workouts from her backyard.

Her kindness and generosity during the Covid-19 outbreak shone as Anita imported masks and offered them to anyone. She mailed masks to the four corners of the world as well as people here in the Houston area.

Anita loved to entertain and was a gracious hostess at home, out and about, or at work. She loved flowers, growing them, receiving them, and giving them.

Anita is survived by her husband, Ted Sutphin of Houston, Daughter Lindsay Nichols of Calgary Canada, grandson Emerson Chapman of Fort Saskatchewan Canada, son-in-law Jason Chapman, stepson Napoleon Sutphin stepdaughter Alexandria Sutphin both of Houston as well as siblings, cousins, nieces, and friends.
