Angela Christine Normand

December 23, 1940 – May 30, 2026

Angela Christine Normand passed away peacefully on May 30th, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by family after a courageous 3.5-year battle with cancer.

Christine was born on December 23, 1940, in Kendal, England, to Vernon John Morgan and Grace Margaret Morgan. She was raised in Sutton Coldfield, England, where she spent her childhood and developed the warmth, resilience, and strong sense of loyalty and purpose that would define her throughout her life.

After completing her primary education, Christine studied nursing at Saint Thomas' Hospital in London, becoming one of the distinguished Nightingale Nurses, allowing for a career dedicated to caring for others. Following her first marriage in England, she emigrated to Montreal, Canada in the late 1960s before settling in Houston, Texas, in 1974, where she would spend the remainder of her life.

A proud and devoted Briton, Christine grew to love Houston and became well known in her community through her many social activities. During the mid-80's and for many years thereafter, Christine established and ran a successful catering business, Catering by Chris, where she was renowned for her tremendous culinary skills.  She enjoyed the praises of many long-term clients who appreciated her cooking talents and the artistic presentation of the meals that were served. Her creativity and attention to detail made her business a great success.

In Houston, Christine met the love of her life, David Ernest Normand. They shared a devoted and loving marriage for 47 years, building a life filled with companionship, social activities, travel, and cherished memories. Their enduring partnership was a source of strength and joy to both of them.

Christine was a longtime member of the Daughters of the British Empire, which allowed her to maintain strong ties to her British heritage while embracing her adopted home in Texas. She enjoyed the fellowship and friendships she developed through the organization over many years.

Above all else, Christine treasured her family and friends.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, and friend whose greatest happiness came from spending time with those she loved.

She is survived by her beloved husband, David; her son, Nicholas John Speller, her son Michael Charles Speller and daughter-in-law Karen Kendrick Speller; her stepdaughter, Melissa Beth Normand; and her cherished grandchildren, Morgan Speller, Madeleine Speller, Avery Speller, and William Speller.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sarah Jane Speller.

Christine will be remembered for her grace, warmth, sharp intellect and unwavering resolve, particularly as she battled cancer in her final years.  Whether hosting family gatherings, dinner parties or playing Mah Jong or Mexican Train, she helped make every occasion special.

Her legacy lives on through her family, her friendships, and the countless lives she touched over her 85 years. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.

A Celebration of Life will be held later this summer. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to Camp Periwinkle, a camp dedicated to enriching the lives of children and families affected by cancer. Donations may be made in honor of Angela Christine Normand.
