Obituary

Andrew Warren Kelley Jr. (Drew) passed away on May 8th, 2018, at his residence in Houston, Texas , following a lengthy illness.  Drew enjoyed the love and friendship of many close friends and family in the weeks preceding his death and was surrounded by his family when he passed.

Drew was preceded in death by his parents, Rita Lorraine Kelley and Andrew Warren Kelley, Sr.

Drew was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and moved to Aruba at age one with his sister, Sharon, and parents Andy and Lori.  The family was part of the Esso Oil American Colony and lived a simple life full of water and beach activities.  Drew developed his love and skills for boating and fishing during his 13 years in Aruba and he maintained his lasting enjoyment of "open water" for all his years in Texas.

Upon their return to America, The Kelley family lived in New Jersey and Boston before moving to Virginia Beach, VA, where Drew would graduate from First Colonial High School.

Prior to serving in the United States Air Force, Drew attended college at The University of Miami in Miami and Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Following his discharge from the service, Drew accepted a position with Xerox Corporation and moved to Houston Texas where he met many lifetime friends and his future wife, Mary Carol Cumbie.

Mary Carol and Drew married in 1988 and lived in the Champions Forest neighborhood in north Houston for most of their married life.  Here they met the lifelong friends who would shape their life raising children and through school, sports, social activities along with church and community involvement.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Carol Cumbie Kelley; their daughter, Caroline Ramsey and her husband Michael Ramsey of Birmingham Alabama, their son, Andrew Kelley III, a recent graduate of the University of Arkansas; sister Sharon Kelley DuBois and husband Steve of Naples, Florida; Sister in law Dianne Hunt and husband Stacy of Houston Texas; Brother in law Jim Cumbie and wife Jennifer of Lufkin Texas; numerous nieces and nephews, Kelley cousins  and Georgia in-laws whom he considered his own.

He was a great guy with a big heart  who would do anything to help others.  Mostly though, he was special in that he devoted his life to his wife and his kids.  Their love for him is a reflection of where he placed his priorities…on relationships that matter.
