Ana Marisol, born on September 16, 1951, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, was the fourth child among six siblings born to Salvadorean parents Dora and Antonio Gutierrez. She grew up in Santa Ana, El Salvador, where she met and married Juan José Acevedo on September 13, 1969, and together they welcomed three children: Juan José, Ana Marisol, and José Fernando. She was and always will be loved deeply by her three children. She was a role model for them, always available for advice, help, support, company or whatever was needed.

In 1979, the family relocated to Houston, Texas due to the start of a civil war in El Salvador. There, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her children, years later they returned to El Salvador, where she spent her days at the family beach house, overseeing her sugar cane farm, and enjoying time with her extensive family – including her parents, in-laws, five siblings, five siblings in law, and 29 nieces and nephews.

As time went on, her family doubled in size as she welcomed her incredible daughters and son in law, Karla Arevalo, Breeze Alfaro, and Ricardo Silva. She felt the support and love throughout this long journey from each and every one of them.

An incredible grandmother, she became "Pita" in 2001, offering her three granddaughters, Ivanna, Andrea, and Cristina, a lifetime of memories filled with laughter, love, and lots of shopping sprees. Splitting her time between San Salvador and Houston, she cherished moments with her family. She loved to shop, travel, eat at restaurants, go for walks outdoors, drink Coke Zero, play cards and most of all spend time with her loved ones. She traveled the world, as she visited a dozen countries – including Austria, Spain, France, Germany, Turkey and Greece, among others. All of her trips were with her loving family members and resulted in countless priceless memories with her sisters, husband, granddaughters, and children.

Marisol's life is marked by an unwavering love for her family, incredible strength, strong character, unbelievable selflessness, unmatched generosity to those in need, and by being an amazing human being that illuminated the lives of all those lucky enough to be around her. As a grandmother, her love knew no bounds, creating cherished memories that will endure for generations. She was truly one of a kind and her remarkable impact on each of her granddaughters speaks volumes of her irreplicable presence. As a mother, she offered unwavering love and a deep devotion to her family – which was a testament to her character. She truly was the pillar that held her family together. As a sister, she was a steadfast companion, sharing laughter and friendship.

In concluding this tribute, let us remember her not with sorrow, but with profound gratitude for the immense joy, love, and strength she gave us throughout her remarkable life. Let her memory be a guiding light, inspiring us to embrace the values she instilled and to carry forward the love she shared. We entrust her soul to God's loving care, knowing her spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were privileged to know and love her.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church Chapel, followed by a committal service to lay her ashes in their final resting place at Klein Memorial Park on Cypress N. Houston Road.
