Amando Herrera

Amando Herrera, age 85, joined our lord in Heaven on Jan. 1, 2021. He was born on Sept. 17,1935 to Monico Herrera and Isaac Carrera in Tepehuanes, Durango, Mexico.

Amando migrated to the United States in 1955 as a bracero in New Mexico and Texas. Later, he moved to Los Angeles, California where he lived until 1997 then he moved to Houston, Texas. Amando remained in Houston for the remainder of his life.

Amando married his wife, Sara Carrera of 63 years in July 8,1958. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed playing multiple instruments, specifically his violin that he built with his own hands at the age of 15. He also enjoyed barbecuing, the outdoors, and spending time with his family.

He will always be remembered for his love of music, storytelling, and the generosity to others. Amando is survived by his wife, three children, seven grandchildren, one brother, and many other relatives.
