Alma Marie (Allen) Jansen

Alma Marie (Allen) Jansen of Magnolia passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018 in Tomball, Texas.

Alma was born on December 9, 1930 in Temple, Texas to Ralph and Annie (Jones) Allen. She grew up in Belton and graduated from Belton High School.

On October 15, 1949 she married the love of her life, Arthur O. Jansen. She and Art lived in Georgetown while he completed his degree at Southwestern University.

The couple moved to Austin. Alma worked for the US Cafe in downtown Austin and later with the City of Austin Health Department.  In December 1953 Alma joined St. Paul Lutheran Church through baptism and as an adult confirmand.  She and Art were active in leadership of the youth group at St. Paul, where Art was a teacher.

After the birth of their children, Alma focused on being a full-time mom. She excelled at creating a loving Christian home for Art and their family.  She was active in church and school activities.  She was a superb cook and baker.  With her caring heart, she enjoyed entertaining family and friends.  Her wonderful sense of mischievous humor and beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew her.

Alma and Art later lived in Brenham and Somerville where Art also taught.  After retirement, they moved to Tomball.

For the last few months, Alma was a resident of Memory Lane Assisted Living in Magnolia.

Alma is survived by her son Kenneth Jansen and his wife Marie of Magnolia; daughter Robin Heitman and husband Kurt of Greenville, SC; grandsons Timothy and Nathaniel Jansen and Andrew and Peter Heitman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 62 years, Arthur; her granddaughter Jansen Leigh Heitman; and her half-brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 9 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball. The funeral will be held Thursday, May 10 at 10:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Tomball with Pastor Michael Daniels officiating, and Pastor Chris Hull serving as liturgist.  Burial will follow in Zion Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Alma's grandsons Timothy, Andrew, Nathaniel, and Peter; nephew Martin Jansen; and nephew-in-law Landon Schwausch. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Alma's other nephews and nephews-in-law.
