ALICE WANDA THUMANN went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 5, 2016, surrounded by her children and showered in love. Wanda, as everyone knew her, was born on January 1, 1934, to Charles and Sophie Spates. She was preceded by her husband of 51 years and best friend, Calvin Eugene Thumann, and her son, Anthony Thumann.
She is survived by her children: Michael Thumann and his wife Dianne, Sandra Furbee and her husband John, and Cindy Thumann; grandchildren: James Scott and his wife Shannon, Ashley Bodungen and her husband Clint, Sean Thumann, and Brittany, Jennifer, and Christopher Newton; great-grandchildren: Madison, Crystal, Courtney, Daniel, Brody, Connor, and Caleb; and a brother, Thomas Spates.
Wanda was a role model for women with a fierce sense of independence and a deep love for her family. She embodied motherhood and duty to family while being a trailblazer for women of industry. She shared a passion for hunting and fishing with her husband and loved cooking for family and friends for holidays and other festivities. Wanda was an inspiration to her family - always loving and always challenging them to be better. Her time was always yours. With a glass of sweet tea, anything was possible and nothing was off limits. She gave her full attention and never hesitated to share her experiences. No measure of her greatness in the lives of those she touched can be expressed in so few words. She always gave more than she received.
We love you, Wanda, and thank you for being such an important part of our lives.
