Obituary

Alice Rita Schlesser (83) of Cypress, Texas passed away on April 14, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital – The Vintage.  Alice was born to Harry and Sallie Krasinski in Chicago, IL.  After graduating from Mercy High School, she began working at Northern Illinois Bell Telephone Company.  In the fall of 1962, a co-worker set Alice up on a blind date with James Allen Schlesser (Sr).  A few months later, in February 1963, the two were married in Summit, IL.  During their more than 46 years of marriage, they lived and raised their family in Chicago (IL), St. Charles (MO), Little Rock (AR) and Houston (TX).  In 2009, James died in Tomball, TX.

Alice was the cherished mother of James Allen Schlesser Jr, Elizabeth Ann Schlesser and Diane Marie McGee (Edward); grandmother of Megan Arlene Tamez (Jacob); and great-grandmother of Sophia, Brooklyn, Zoe and Charlotte Tamez.

After her children grew to school-age, Alice resumed working outside the home in a variety of healthcare and retail careers that allowed her to connect with people.  She loved caring for creatures of all kinds including a long list of family pets: dogs, cats, guinea pigs, a hermit crab, a hamster and a parakeet.  She also enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels in the yard.  When the squirrels misbehaved, she would open the back door and tell them to knock it off.

Alice was predeceased by her parents and her husband.  She is survived by her children, granddaughter and great granddaughters.

A public visitation for Alice will be held on Saturday, 23 April 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 West Main Street, Tomball, TX 77375.  A funeral mass will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church,  1111 S. Cherry Street, Tomball, TX 77375 at a date TBD.
