Obituary

Beloved matriarch, Alice M. Harvey (née Crovo), of Spring, Texas died on Wednesday, December 21, at 101 years old. Born in Washington, D.C. on September 26, 1921, Alice lived an extraordinary life. She served as an air raid warden and raised and tended to victory gardens during WWII. While working for the government, she met Edwin Harvey when he stepped off an elevator and asked her for directions. They married in November of 1942 and moved to New Jersey where they raised a family, had successful careers, started Little League, were active members of South Presbyterian Church, and served their community in numerous other capacities.

After Ed passed away in December of 1988, Alice moved to Frederick, Maryland to be close to her sister, Ellen, and her husband, Buck. Always a self-starter, Alice served on committees, took college classes, traveled the world, and volunteered at a local hospital, the Delaplaine Art Museum, and many other organizations.

In her advanced years, she moved to Texas to live close to her daughter and her daughter's family, and to escape cold weather. While in Texas, Alice made a new group of friends in her community and through her church. She also enjoyed many holidays, celebrations, outings, and beach vacations with her family.

Alice is survived by her son Kenneth E. Harvey and his wife Susan, her daughter Kathryn A. Kietur and her husband Thomas, her granddaughter Kelly P. Subda and her husband Kyle, her grandson Jeffrey K. Harvey and his wife Jane, her granddaughter Erin C. Callahan and her partner David Craig, her eight great-grandchildren, Travis Subda and his wife Kristie, Kyle Parrish, Dylan Parrish and his wife Dannie, Brian Subda and his fiancé Chelsea Headrick, Anthony Harvey, Michael Ketchum, Aidan Subda, and Jackson Harvey, her two great-great grandchildren, Grace Subda and Macsen Parrish, and countless family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin J. Harvey, her grandson James E. Harvey, and many family members and friends over the years.

A celebration of Alice's remarkable life will be held on January 7 at 11 a.m. at Northwoods Presbyterian Church, 3320 Cypress Creek Parkway, Houston, TX 77068.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate your time to bring joy and cheer to an elderly person who does not receive regular visits.
