Alice Creamer, 90, of Spring, Texas, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025. She was born June 20, 1934, in Granite City, Illinois, to the late George N. Shepherd and Grace R. (Kelahan) Shepherd.

Alice moved with her family several times during her childhood. In 1937, her family moved to Alliance, Ohio, where they stayed until 1944. At that time, they returned to Granite City, where she attended St. Elizabeth Catholic School and Granite City High School. The family's final move was to a farm overlooking the Mississippi River in Clarksville, Missouri, in January 1950. Alice completed high school after attending Clarksville/Pike County high schools and then St. Francis Academy in Joliet, Illinois, from which she graduated in 1952. With the financial assistance of her older brother and sister, she was able to attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and to complete a bachelor's degree in home economics in 1956. Upon her graduation, she was employed by PET Milk Company in St. Louis, Missouri, where she developed recipes in a test kitchen.

Alice married Edward (Ed) Creamer of Louisiana, Missouri, on January 4, 1958, at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Clarksville, Missouri. They were married for 66 years until Ed's death in January 2024.

Alice is survived by their four children and their families: her daughter and son-in-law, Ann Creamer Ron (Alberto); granddaughter and spouse, Laura Ron Bree (Dermot) and their child; grandson, Matthew Ron; granddaughter, Elisa Ron; daughter and son-in-law, Maureen Creamer Bemko (Ihor); son and daughter-in-law, Joe Creamer (Laura); grandson, Zach Creamer; granddaughter, Maria Creamer; grandson, Jake Creamer; son and daughter-in-law, Jack Creamer (Karen); sister-in-law, Carolyn Creamer Allen; several cousins, and many nieces and nephews.

Including her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Creamer, as well as her brother, Donald Shepherd (Eileen, Betty); her sister, Rosemary Shepherd Baldetti (Gino); and her nephew, Michael Shepherd.

Alice and Ed raised their family in St. Louis, Missouri, until Ed was transferred by Shell Oil Company to the San Francisco Bay area in 1968. In 1972, he was transferred again, this time to the Houston area, where Alice and Ed lived happily for the remainder of their lives. They joined the newly formed Prince of Peace Catholic Community upon their arrival in northwest Houston in 1972. Over the next 50 years, Alice was dedicated to serving the community in a number of capacities, including the Altar Guild for 36 years, the Linen Ministry for 24 years, as well as the Prayer Blanket Ministry. She regularly attended daily Mass, became lifelong faithful friends with others in the daily Rosary Group, and participated in Scripture study groups, until she could no longer attend, as she cared for her husband's needs in his later years.

After her faith, the focus of Alice's life was always on her family, in whom she took great pride. She strove to be a caring mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. Alice joyfully became a great-grandmother as well, just a month before her death. She maintained strong relationships with her extended family over the years, even after having moved hundreds or even thousands of miles away. Those ties could still be seen as several nieces and nephews reached out to contact her to express their love for her in her final days. She was the family's "prayer warrior" as well, faithfully committing to pray for the many needs, both large and small, of every member of her family as they would share their challenges and worries with her. She provided practical assistance as well, such as innumerable hours spent babysitting, shuttling grandchildren as needed, preparing meals, and baking and decorating birthday cakes. She enjoyed that precious time with her grandchildren, as they played with intriguing new toys she had found while out on her shopping trips and enjoyed watching videos together, such as the unanimous favorite "Homeward Bound."

Alice was extremely practical, having been raised to live the values of personal responsibility. She was also known to endure great challenges and to "suffer well" without complaint. As they aged, she cared for her husband's many needs, all while facing medical challenges of her own from leukemia and non-Hodgkin lymphoma for 17 years. She maintained her mobility, sharp mental acuity, and subtle wit right up until her final days. She continued to take an interest in keeping up with the details of the lives of her family and friends, looking after her plants and gardening, following current events, and tackling jigsaw puzzles of all types and sizes. She exemplified humility and received many compliments in her final months from those who found her to be so impressive for a woman of her age.

The family is grateful to Alice's wonderful caregiver and close friend, Zeira Becerra; her excellent and caring specialists, Dr. Mohsen Arani and Dr. Steven Napierkowski; and her doctors, Dr. Janel Beatie and Dr. Margaret Lang- Williams.

Funeral services will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 19222 Tomball Parkway, Houston, Texas, on Friday, June 20, 2025. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am, with Rosary to follow at 10:00 am. The Mass will begin at 10:30 am. Burial at Houston National Cemetery to follow at 1:00 pm.

Serving as pallbearers are Zach Creamer, Jake Creamer, Matthew Ron, Ihor Bemko, Pete Baldetti, and Tom Baldetti.
