Alejandra Aguilar Mora passed from this life on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at the age of 71 years in Houston, Texas. Alejandra was born November 14, 1948 in Mexico City, Mexico. She was proud of both her Mexican heritage and attaining her United States citizenship. She loved to travel back to Mexico to visit family and friends throughout her whole life. She had humble beginnings in life, growing up with eleven siblings. This modest upbringing instilled a strong desire to help with the needs of others, especially her family in Mexico. Many times she gathered and took clothes and other items with her on long and difficult bus trips, so others might be blessed, as well. Alejandra understood and would often say how blessed she really was, especially toward the end of her life.

She is survived by her mother Susana Mora, eleven siblings and their families, five children and their families: son, Jose Cruz and his wife Alma, and their children, André, Adriana, and Kristian; daughter, Michelle Glawson and her husband Rodney, and their children, Eliana and Jacob; son, Santiago Cruz Jr.; daughter, Teresa Rojas and her husband, Ivan, and their children Jaslyn, Juliana, Jovani, and Jonathan; son, Alejandro, and his son, Izik: and last but not least, her sweet canine companion, Cokito, and many other loved ones.

Alejandra was a proud housewife and caretaker, and she served countless others besides her immediate family in this role. She became known as the neighborhood nanny. She cared for the children of friends and family when they might need to return to work, and she often welcomed families into her home as a place to stay until their situations changed. Not only did she instill the concept of unconditional love to her children, she lived it by serving and sharing with others throughout her life.

Alejandra was hospitality personified. Her passion was her family, her friends, and her kitchen. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she cooked for everyone around her and welcomed everyone to the table. She was loved for extending open arms to all and she helped anyone who needed it, without judgment. She said she demonstrated this love because if it were one of her children who needed the help, she hoped someone would do the same for them.

With a jovial personality, humor and dancing were ever present in Alejandra's life. She loved to laugh, and recounting funny stories about herself and others was one of her favorite activities. If music was playing, as it usually was in her home, she was dancing. Whether it was a family event, a special occasion, or just cleaning the house, she danced. Alejandra was joyful and did not like to wear black. She loved color and would love for those attending her service to wear bright colors to celebrate her life.

One of the items on Alejandra's bucket list was to visit Israel. She was a member at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, and a few years ago, she was able to travel there with a group from her church. She valued that experience so deeply, and it meant so much to her to be able to travel there. She was a spiritual person and would often join prayer groups to make petitions to God.

Alejandra's family would love to thank everyone for their overwhelming care, prayers, and condolences. We ask that you please continue to remember us as we mourn the loss of a beautiful woman, inside and out, and celebrate her life.

There will be a graveside service at the Klein Memorial Park Cemetery at 14711 Cypress-North Houston on Friday, July 31 at 10:00 am. There is no limit on the number of people who may attend, if masks are worn and social distancing is observed.
