Alberta (Bert) Mary Forbes, 82, passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas on October 22, 2024. Born in Tower, Minnesota to Michael & Stephanie Weinzierl on December 14, 1941.
She graduated from Ely High School, in Ely, Minnesota in 1959 and later as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) from Nursing School in Duluth, Minnesota.
Shortly after graduation, she was engaged and married to Timothy Orin Forbes of Nevada, Iowa on June 16, 1962. The next year, they became parents to their first child, Cheryl Lynn Forbes. Three years later, they welcomed their first son, Michael Timothy Forbes, and their second, Scott Matthew Forbes, nine years following.
Bert and Tim embarked on many adventures, moving around the country. Throughout their lives they lived in Minnesota, West Virginia (twice), Puerto Rico, Ohio (twice), Kentucky (twice), New York, Texas (three times) and Utah. But they always found time to return to their beloved homes on vacations to Ely and Nevada.
Bert was devoted to her family, and then their families as the years went by, always jumping in and rolling up her sleeves when there was work to be done. An avid antiquer, she always had a keen eye for unique antiques, and mastered the art of the deal! She enjoyed her social life, and was always headed out to her next Friends and Neighbors meeting or Bunco game. Bert was always a woman on the go, and never met a stranger. She will always be remembered as an outgoing and supportive wife, mother and friend. As her high school yearbook quoted, "Her jovial ways are lots of fun, when Al is there the fun's begun!" No truer words can be said of her.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl; granddaughter Stephanie and great-grandson, Asher; granddaughter Madison Campbell, her husband Jared and great-granddaughter, Bailey; son Mike and his wife Sarah, grandson Jacob and granddaughter Lily; son Scott and his wife Alicia; brother James Weinzierl and his wife Debbie; sister Jeannette Prijatal, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Timothy Forbes, her father Michael Weinzierl, mother Stephanie Weinziel, brother Mike Weinzierl, and her grandparents.
Klein Funeral Home in Tomball, Texas is entrusted with the care of Bert and her family. Her memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. on November 16th, in the Mary Chapel of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 19222 Tomball Parkway, Houston, TX 77070. Family will welcome visitors for a vigil prior to the Mass at 12:30.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you send a tribute donation in honor of Alberta, to the Heart To Heart Hospice Foundation at www.htohhfoundation.org/donation/
