Obituary

Albert Theodore Taube, P.E., 87, born in Hemphill, TX, November 25, 1933, passed away on June 11, 2020 surrounded by family.  He was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Lufkin, TX, and graduated and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran School and Church Downtown in Houston, TX, where he remained a member until his death.  He served on the Trinity-Messiah Lutheran School Board of Education for several years and was elected president of the National Lutheran Parent- Teacher League in 1993 and served in that capacity for three years.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Albert enrolled in Texas A&M University and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1962.  He was a member of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and became a Registered Professional Engineer shortly after graduation.  He found his niche in engineering design and construction in the oil and gas sector, which took him all over the world as an independent contractor.  He was most proud of a latex plant project in Green Bay, WI, built by General Tire Company.  He was involved from the beginning of the design, procurement, construction and start-up commissioning.

While working in Portland, OR, he spent weekends working with the Builders for Christ (BFC), a non-profit organization committed to helping churches construct sanctuaries and other church-related facilities.  He attended a local Lutheran church in the Portland suburb of Hillsboro and it was constructing a multipurpose building.  Congregation members were asked to help the BFC volunteers and being a builder at heart, Albert shared his time and expertise on the project.

Albert is survived by Janis, his wife of 59 years; sister, Ruth; sons, Michael and wife Tina, Christopher and wife Pam, Jason and wife Aitu; daughters, Lisa and husband Mike, and Kathleen and husband Donald; grandchildren, Danielle, Caleb, Jared, Kendall, Mallory, Benjamin, Samuel, Quynh, and Harrison; step-grandson, Zachery; step-great-granddaughter, Mya; and numerous nieces and nephews.
