Albert F. Schroeder

On September 26, 2026, Albert Frederick Schroeder, devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather peacefully passed away at the age of 93 with his family by his side.

He was born in Bergen County, New Jersey and raised in Oradell, New Jersey by Anna (Scott) and Charles H. Schroeder. Lovingly referred to as Al, Bud, Dad, Pop, Grandpa, or Uncle Buddy, he married the love of his life Maryann E. (Steeneck) Schroeder in New York City and lived a rich life together for 67 years until Maryann’s passing in October 2024.

Al worked to put himself through school and graduated in 1956 from Wagner College on Staten Island, New York with a degree in Business Administration and immediately entered the US Marine Corps as a Commissioned Officer. First Lieutenant Albert F. Schroeder remained in the Marine Corps until 1959. After discharge from the Marine Corps, “once a Marine always a Marine” was his mantra. He was a man of great integrity and honor and was not afraid of hard work. He began his 33-year career with Shell Oil Company in New York City, made several moves, and finally settled in Houston, Texas with his family for the past 55 years. He made many long-lasting friendships, which he cherished, while working at Shell. Above all else, Al was a devoted husband and deeply loved and cared for his wife Maryann, whom he missed greatly after her passing. He was a proud, loving, generous family man and friend. He set the bar high for his family and left a great legacy; he will live on in our hearts forever.

He is pre-deceased by his wife, Maryann E. Schroeder, brother and sister-in-law William and Rita Schroeder, and brother-in-law Frank Joy, which gives his family great solace knowing they will now be together for eternity. Cherishing his memory are his children Scott C. Schroeder and wife Rachel, Nancy A. Payne and husband Bryan, and Kurt A. Schroeder and Carolyn Thomas. Al held his grandchildren close to his heart, they will miss him greatly: Adam B. Welch, Travis R. and Chelsea Payne & family, Austin B. and Ashley Payne & family, Blake A. Schroeder and fiancé Sierra Goldring, Lauren N. Schroeder, Madison A. and Sam Hoza & family, Haley E. and Juan Florez & family, and Tyler A. Schroeder. In addition, he is survived by his sister Charlotte Joy & family, and brother-in-law Henry Steeneck & family.

The family wishes to thank Altus Hospice Care, Touching Hearts of North Houston, DaVita Dialysis NorthPointe, and Dr. James Muntz for their dedication and compassionate care of our father and grandfather.

Al was a blessing to this world and our family. To honor his life, a memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14th, 2026, at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, Texas 77379.
