Albert David Paulson, also known as Al, Albert, Buddy, Dave, David, Dad or Granddaddy, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2018 after a series of health complications.

He is survived by his children: Shirley Paulson, David Paulson Jr., Michael Paulson, Steven Howe, Kent Howe, Diane Orta, Scott Howe and Mark Paulson along with numerous spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family that all loved and cherished him dearly. He is preceded in death by his loving spouse of 30 years, Margaret Paulson and his granddaughters, Lauren Paulson and Lisa Denton.

His entry to Heaven is no doubt greeted with love and open arms as he was the last of his immediate family to pass from this life to the next.

David was a man of patience, acceptance, love, humanity, grace and integrity. He was born during the Depression Era in a farmhouse in Kingsville, TX and grew up working the family property by milking dairy cows, raising chickens, plowing and harvesting multiple crops and assisting his parents in all the duties it took to make their land as self-sufficient as possible. Hard work and perseverance was no stranger to this second generation Norwegian group and he was proud to learn and share the stories of their heritage all throughout his life.

After high school, David joined the army to serve stateside during the Korean War at Carswell Airforce Base in Fort Worth, TX. He then decided to pursue an accounting degree and attended Texas A&I and Texas Lutheran University. This education led to a long career that included working in the Savings and Loans Industry and finally accounting contract work from which he eventually retired. " Retirement " was not really in David ' s nature, so he followed his son, Mark Paulson, into real estate sales. He became an agent in 2002, joined Realty Associates and opened a real estate office with Mark shortly thereafter. He became a Real Estate Broker in 2017 at the age of 85 was among one of the oldest individuals in the State of Texas to receive a Broker designation at the time.

A proud Lion ' s Club member, David served as a five time past President and a Charter President of various clubs in the Houston area in the course of his lifetime membership. The chapters he served included Houston Central, Brazosport, Cy-Fair, Copperfield (Charter), The Woodlands, Conroe and Tomball. He was passionate about serving the community and providing eyeglasses to poor children across the world through the Lion ' s Club Recycled Eyeglasses program. He constantly was collecting used eyeglasses from everyone he knew as he was well aware of the direct impact of this program on so many lives.

Last, but not least, David was a man of deep personal faith in the Lord and Jesus Christ. He was a lifetime member of the ELCA Lutheran Church and spent the last years of his life attending Lord of Life Lutheran Church in The Woodlands, TX. His commitment to living a Christ-like life was shown daily in the love he possessed for his family, the humanity he saw in others and the way he carried himself patiently in the face of adversity.

David ' s last wishes were to be cremated. Memorial services have been planned for Saturday, July 14 at 2pm at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in The Woodlands, TX with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall.

The family has asked to honor his memory by requesting donations of used eyeglasses for the ion ' s Club Recycled Eyeglass Program (a donation box will be available) and/or donations to The Lion ' s Club International Foundation that provides compassionate humanitarian service around the world to those in need.
