Albert Melvin Baker, Born August 7, 1942 in Joplin, Missouri, Passed away January 25, 2021 in Houston, Texas Age 78 Years 5 Months 18 Days.

Albert grew up in Carl Junction, MO where he attended Carl Junction High School graduating in 1960. He was a star basketball player holding the record for the most points in a single game for a number of years. Al went on to attend Southeastern Louisiana University on a basketball scholarship and graduated in 1964.  While at Southeastern he met the love of his life, Linda Lou Schmidt, with whom he would spend 54 wonderful years. Albert and Linda were married in December of 1964. Albert had three sons, Robert Earl Baker, Brook Abbott Baker and Todd Christopher Baker. In 1971, Albert and Linda moved the family from Biloxi, MS to Houston, TX to begin his career with Tenneco. In 1982 they built their dream home in Hockley, TX. Albert was an avid golfer and a voracious reader. He retired from Tenneco after 25 years of service.  Albert was a man of faith. He and Linda shared a deep love for God and Jesus Christ. He was a member of the congregation of Macedonia United Methodist Church in Hockley where he served as treasurer of the church for many years.  Albert is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Schmidt Baker, mother, Effi Alberta Baker, father, Earl Melvin Baker and sister, Earl Dean Durbin.  He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Steve & Darlene Baker, brother and sister-in-law, Larry & Cheryl Baker, sister-in-law, Trudy J. Schmidt, son and daughter-in-law, Robert & Shawn Baker, son and fiance, Brook Baker & Joseph Moore, son and fiance, Todd Baker & Rae Lynn Boe, and grandchildren, Christopher Baker, Emily & Zachary Wilkins and Ethan Baker as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A very special and heartfelt thank you to Ms. Cassondra Doucette for all of the wonderful care she provided to Albert.
