Adelaido "Lalo" Rocha Jr. passed away on August 28, 2023 at the age of 83, in Houston, Texas.  Like a true Marine, he battled several serious medical issues in recent years.  Lalo stayed strong for his family and his love of life.

Born in Harlingen, Texas, to Adelaido Rocha Sr. and Berta Reyes Rocha, he was a devoted son who took care of his parents.  As a young man he joined the Marines and was stationed in Hawaii.  After his time serving his country, Lalo worked as a numerator for the U.S. Census Bureau in New Mexico.  This job lead him to his wife of 57 years, Josie "Pina" Jaques. With less than forty dollars, the new couple headed to Seattle, Washington.   Lalo worked for Boeing for several years when he and his wife headed to Houston, Texas, with their toddler.

Once in Houston, he had two more children.  He worked several jobs and went to night school to support his growing family.   His determination for his family led him to become a mechanical designer.   He worked for TC&B (later AECOM) for 38 years.   Lalo went from hand drawing lift stations to the age of Autocad/Microstation.  To the 'joy' of his family, he often took them on Sunday drives to see the lift stations he designed.  He was a smart, dedicated man to everything he did.

Lalo enjoyed nature, traveling to New Mexico or anywhere the wind would take him (and reading every historical marker along the way), and spending time with his family.   He was a modest man and treated all as equals.  He had the best smirk and enjoyed being spoiled by his kids.

Lalo will continue to live through wonderful memories and how he raised his children:  Maria Isabel Sapp (son-in-law, Stan Sapp and grandson Santos Sapp), Adelaido Rocha III (granddaughter Madeleine Aguilar), and Sonia Marisol Rocha; and his wife, Josie.  Lalo also leaves behind his siblings: Bea Herrera, Tonio Rocha, Valde Rocha, and Juan Rocha.

Like the little hummingbird that crosses continents, may God look after you and may you go a long way…Rest in peace daddy, we will be ok till we meet again.

Friends are invited to visit with the family between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, at Klein Funeral Home - CyFair Northwest, 9719 Wortham Boulevard, Houston, TX 77065. A funeral service including military honors will follow visitation at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
