Adam Lucien Ourso, Jr., 84, of Houston, Texas, passed away October 23, 2023. Adam was born October 12, 1939, in Welcome, St. James Parish, Louisiana, to the late Adam L. Ourso, Sr. and Ozile (Mabile) Ourso.

Adam joined the United States Navy as a diver in 1957 and served his country until 1962. While working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in New Orleans, Adam met Ann. They married February 1, 1963, and moved to Houston in 1975. Adam was a marine insurance claims adjuster and retired as Vice President of Navigators Insurance Company. He was passionate about all things maritime and spent countless hours on tugboats, barges and vessels traveling the Mississippi River and Gulf Coast. He often monitored the cleanup of oil spills, staying in touch with Ann by ship-to-shore phone calls. He enjoyed meeting boat captains and crew and never turned down an invitation to lunch onboard.

Adam dedicated his life to God in January 1963 and immediately got involved with the Baptist Church. He served God faithfully and was ordained a deacon. His heart was devoted to evangelism, and he traveled with his friend, Michael Gott, to Poland, Belarus and Ukraine preaching the gospel and teaching English. Adam and Ann joined Champions Forest Baptist Church in 2006, and Adam served as a front-desk greeter for many years.

In retirement, Adam found fulfillment as a volunteer at Methodist Hospital, serving joyfully with whatever task given. In his free time, Adam loved to watch old Westerns and considered John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and the Gunsmoke cast his friends. He loved to fish and looked forward to his annual Heber Springs, Arkansas, fishing trip with friends. He and Ann enjoyed traveling the U.S., the Caribbean and Europe.

Adam is survived by wife, Ann; daughter, Candace; son-in-law, Fred Lutz; and grandchildren, Nathan and Cassandra Lutz. He is survived by brothers Larry, Curtis and Jimmy Ourso; and sister, Virgie Regira, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, George Ourso.

Adam, we speak your name with so much love. Thank you for your unwavering devotion to our family and your generous spirit. You live in our hearts until we meet again in our heavenly home.

A private funeral service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Houston Veterans National Cemetery.
