Abel Gonzalez died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the age of 83. Abel was born and raised in El Carmen, Nuevo Leon, MX.

Abel met his wife of 53 years in Cienga de Flores, Florencia Elida. Together, Abel and Florencia had four children. Abel moved to Houston, TX in 1978 where he worked for the Rodriguez family at La Rosticeria Mexican Restaurant until its closure. Abel then moved to Pasadena, TX continuing to work along the Rodriguez family at Mamaritas Mexican Restaurant & Cantina. Abel coached, mentored and guided many friends and colleagues along the way until retiring in 2018.

Left to cherish his memories are Abel's wife, children Abel, Gerardo, Alejandro, Diana, and their spouses, and grandchildren, Evelyn, Alejandro, Stephanie, Daniel, Gerardo, Kate, Valeria, Cristina, Jonathan, and Nelly Abby, and siblings Juan, Marianela, Blanca, and Jose Luis.

Abel is preceded in death by his parents Ursula and Abel Gonzalez, siblings Juanita, Aurelio, Benito, Omar, and granddaughter Isabella.
